Celebrity Big Brother fans 'work out' real reason why Jack P Shepherd won
Viewers were left stunned by the Corrie actor's victory
Celebrity Big Brother fans have claimed that they’ve ‘worked out’ the real reason why Jack P Shepherd won the series.
In a result that few saw coming, Coronation Street actor Jack was crowned the show’s victor over Danny Beard on Friday night (April 25).
Heading into the final, Danny was the bookies favourite, with Jack a close second according to the odds.
Once JoJo finished in third place, it appeared that the odds were correct and Danny was going to follow in David Potts’ footsteps.
However, presenters Will Best and AJ Odudu revealed that Jack received the most votes from the public following nearly three weeks in the house.
Speaking after his win, a shellshocked Jack said to the presenters: "I can't believe it! I am blown away. I didn't expect it.
“Tonight, there are six of us, I thought I was a show in for maybe a fifth. Really, as people kept leaving, I kept thinking, 'surely not’.
"Then JoJo left, and I was gobsmacked! I had her pegged as the winner."
Over on X, previously known as Twitter, many viewers put Jack’s victory down to the popularity of Corrie, with Big Brother station ITV also airing the soap.
@JackProverbsPR said: “All the Corrie super fans making sure Jack wins #CBBUK.” @LauraMc18 added: “Convinced Corrie fans are a cult cos how did he win for drinking tea for 3 weeks #CBBUK.”
@amyxjk wrote: “The corrie warriors have been putting a shift in #cbbuk.” @Cafi2k posted: “I’m cackling at the true power of Corrie stans #CBBUK.”
@PollyLoxton commented: “Obviously a lot of Corrie fans watching #CBBUK.” @tizthedamnszn_ stated: “The corrie fanbase has more power that I thought. #cbbuk.”
Jack has played the role of David Platt on Coronation Street since he was 12-years-old, joining the programme all the way back in 2000.
On a year that marks the 25th anniversary of his Weatherfield debut, Jack proved why he remains one of the UK’s most popular actors.
