Coronation Street gives Gail Platt update after exit 4 months ago as fans 'just make' realisation
Fans will recall the moving scenes when Helen Worth was seen bowing out of the ITV soap on Christmas Day 2024
Coronation Street fans have been given their biggest update on Gail Platt since she left Weatherfield four months ago.
There were moving scenes when Helen Worth was seen bowing out of the ITV soap on Christmas Day 2024 (December 25) after five decades of playing her on-screen alter-ego.
Gail, famed for being the Platt family matriarch, was seen being waved off from the cobbles by her family as she left them behind for a new life in the south of France having married her sixth husband Jesse Chadwick - in her seventh wedding during her time on the famous street.
As the newlyweds drove off to begin their new chapter having said 'I Do', Jesse asked Gail: "Are you ready Mrs Chadwick?" She replied: "Ready as I'll ever be, Mr Chadwick," as her family waved goodbye from outside No.8 Coronation Street.
But viewers were recently commenting on Gail's obvious absence as she wasn't around to witness her son, David, spiralling as he was targeted by imprisoned gangster Harvey Gaskell after stealing he cash, before he eventually plotting his own death with the help of former prison mate Andy Garland.
David, played by Jack P Shepherd, survived the attempt on his own life but his actions had devastating consequences for Daisy Midgeley. She was caught in the crossfire and the hit and run resulted in her losing her unborn baby.
But, during Friday's (April 25) Corrie, David returned to Weatherfield with his wife Shona having gone to visit Gail in France. In typical David fashion, he wasted no time as he moaned: "I didn't think I'd say this, but I'm glad to be back. Gail was doing my head in by the end of it."
Shona defended her mother-in-law, sharing how happy Gail is with Jesse. But David clapped back; "If she's happy, why does she have to ask us so many questions all the time?"
Shona was quick to point out: "Oh because there's quite a lot to catch up on: the house burning down, Max going to prison..." But David still wasn't having it as he moaned: "We sent texts, she knew all that."
But the conversation about Gail came to an abrupt end as David and Shona were confronted by a half-naked Kit Green at Sara Platt's flat, where they've been staying since the fire.
David was furious to find out that Sarah is now dating the detective constable, with the pair having become enemies after Kit slept with Shona.
Amid Gail's mention in the latest Corrie episode, some fans were left thinking about her exit. @ihearthorror_ said: "just realised this is the first year since 1975 where Gail hasn't been on our screens #Corrie."
