Coronation Street's Lou star Farrel Hegarty teases late-night drama on cobbles before explosive exit
The actress joined the ITV soap earlier this year as Lou Michaelis alongside co-star Joe Layton as husband Mick
Coronation Street star Farrel Hegarty has seemingly teased the possibility of late-night drama on the cobbles ahead of her confirmed exit.
The actress joined the ITV soap earlier this year as Lou Michaelis. She was quickly followed to Weatherfield by her husband Mick, played by Joe Layton, and the pair have wasted no time in ruffling feathers as the street's new 'nightmare neighbours'.
Mick and Lou moved into Mawdsley Street at the back of Chesney and Gemma Winter-Brown's house, which is the first time ever Corrie have extended the serial drama across the ginnel in a history-making move for the popular show.
But it's recently been revealed that both characters will soon depart. A Corrie spokesperson has confirmed that exit of both Mick and Lou from the long-running show, with both expected to leave before the summer.
They confirmed their exits to The Sun and said "Mick and Lou were brought into the show to cause chaos on the cobbles in the build up to a major storyline in the summer and they are already making their presence felt.
"Joe and Farrel were contracted for a specific length of time, some characters come in for a long time and some like Mick and Lou are brought to pass through and leave a trail of destruction behind them. Both actors are still filming with the show and will be on screen until the summer."
Farrel has confirmed she is still currently filming, having taken to Instagram on Thursday (April 24) with a video of her walking around Media City. Alongside the video, she wrote: "On route to a 12 hour night shoot."
She then shared more posts in which she could be seen inside Trafford Wharf-based ITV studio in Lou's various outfits. In one she was rocking a khaki top with wide-leg patterned trousers and a pink bomber jacket with a chunky pair of boots.
"Another solid outfit from Lou," she captioned the post before being seen in a second look which consisted of stone-coloured joggers and a grey sweatshirt, paired with the same boots. "Or maybe you prefer this one," Farrel said as she danced around.
The TikTok star later offered an udpate on her long evening on the cobbles. She could be seen walking away from the set, still in her iconic red Corrie coat, and said: "Get me to bed," adding a time stamp of 2.41am on Friday (April 25) morning.
When she was announced as joining the show, Farrel shared: "I'm delighted and so grateful to be joining the cast of Coronation Street. I have genuinely been blown away by how ridiculously warm and nice everyone is.
"Lou is definitely an exciting character to play because she’s got good and bad parts to her, she’s a life force and full of beans. She’s a very colourful person who likes to make waves and try to cause chaos.
"But she also has that strong family loyalty, especially between Mick and Lou, they are thick as thieves and will stick up for each other, even when they probably shouldn't…"
