A popular bar in Tameside has issued a statement about ‘negative Sally's’ after seeking planning permission for a rooftop terrace.

Vault 2, on Ashton Road in Denton, recently celebrated its one-year anniversary having taken over the former Royal Bank of Scotland site in April last year.

‌

The contemporary bar and bistro has become known in the short space of time for its menu of brunch dishes, small plates and main courses, including steaks, Szechuan duck and butternut squash risotto. It also serves a signature 'gold bar' dessert made up of chocolate fudge, caramac and hot caramel.

Owner Aaron Schofield has now applied to expand the venue with an open top Italian bar, based on the roof of the building and surrounded by glass railings.

Planning documents filed with Tameside Council this month say the proposed development would 'give a classy feel to the bar’ and would ‘expand on the local area’.

Documents said: “We are wanting to improve and expand on the local area and we feel that by creating a roof top bar will draw a lot of attention to the local area than people having to travel to Manchester, which then will create more jobs to the local area and bring more revenue locally.”

The proposals also include an ‘open plan’ wood fired pizza oven, with a new set of stairs and vestibule to create a ‘cosy space’.

The application for the bistro was recently validated and is awaiting a decision from Tameside Council. Both Local Highway Authority and National Highways have approved the plans from their perspective.

‌

In a recent post on social media, Aaron shared news of the plans with Vault 2’s customers, which included a message directed towards any ‘negative Sally’s’ in the area who might object to the plans.

He wrote: “So the CAT is out the BAG. Yes - We have planning in progress and yes we have applied for a roof top bar as well. There will be negative Sally's about, but hey ho we are going to get them. More information will be on the way soon.”

The news of the plans have already created excitement with many residents. One person said: “That will be fantastic. Can't wait to try it, you are doing amazing bringing something classy to Denton.”

Another posted: “Well I can’t wait for this, I think it’s amazing now all the nice places to go in Denton.” Another commented: “This is going to be amazing.” One other said: “Looks great good luck with everything hope all goes through with ease.”

One last person wrote: “Looks fab. Definitely leading the way for Denton businesses. Hope others up their game or bring their ideas to the area too. Great work.”
