The latest average rent in each of the region's 10 boroughs has now been revealed
The cost to rent in every Greater Manchester borough has been revealed - as rent prices continue to soar. New data from the Office for National Statistics (ONS) says the average private rent in the UK was £1,332 a month in March 2025 - up by £96 in a year.
Rents vary drastically across local authorities in England and Wales. Rents are the highest in Kensington and Chelsea, London, at an average price of £3,639 a month.
The lowest rents of £528 are found in Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland.
In Greater Manchester, the cost of renting varies hugely from one borough to the next. You can pay as much as £1,322 a month in the most expensive area and just £682 in the cheapest.

Bolton
Anyone looking to rent a home in Bolton can now expect to pay around £798 per month. This price has gone up by 9.7 percent in the last 12 months.
Bury
In Bury, the average rent cost is now £914 a month, which has risen by 10.9 percent over the last year.
Manchester
Manchester is one of the most expensive boroughs to rent in the region, at an average cost of £1310 per month. This has gone up by 9.5 percent in the last 12 months.
Oldham
In Oldham, you can now expect to pay an average of £814 per month to rent a property. The borough has seen the smallest annual increase in rent costs which have risen by 7.1 percent.
Rochdale
Renting in Rochdale now costs an average of £751 per month, which has risen by 8.8 percent over the last year.
Salford
Salford is amongst the more expensive boroughs to rent a home, with an average rent cost of £1109 a month. Prices have risen by 8.6 percent here in the last 12 months.
Stockport
In Stockport, you can now expect to pay an average of £1039 per month to rent a property. This price has gone up by 12.2 percent since this time last year.
Tameside
The average rent cost in Tameside is now £851, which has increased by 11.5 percent over the last 12 months.
Trafford
Trafford is the most expensive borough to rent a home, with the average rent costing £1322 per month. The borough has also seen the biggest annual change with rents rising by 14.9 percent in the last year.
Wigan
You'll find the cheapest rents in Wigan, at an average price of £682 a month. Despite these low costs, renting here is still 8.4 percent more expensive than it was a year ago.
