'I was amazed by the contents of my £8 Too Good To Go bag from Harrods'
Laura Khoshaba was delighted with her Too Good To Go purchase from Harrods and took to TikTok to share her haul, which she taste-tested with her mum afterwards
Bargain hunters, particularly foodies, have been in for a treat since the introduction of Too Good To Go to the UK market in 2016, and it's safe to say many are now addicted.
The app is a treasure trove for finding local eateries and takeaways that offer unsold food at significantly reduced prices, helping to reduce waste. The initiative saw a surge in popularity during the Covid-19 pandemic, with even supermarkets jumping on board to offer items close to their sell-by date.
Somewhat surprisingly to many other shoppers, one woman managed to snag a deal at Harrods – London's iconic luxury department store. Laura Khoshaba, who secured the mystery bag for a mere £8, took to TikTok to unveil its contents.
Delving into her Harrods haul, Laura first revealed a mini strawberry cheesecake pot, then proceeded to showcase a "bunch of cakes". She listed: "So, we've got a red velvet, a funfetti vanilla cake slice, another red velvet and a chocolate cake."
Impressed by the selection, Laura remarked: "That's a lot desserts." Her mum, Ann, who was also present, suggested: "Maybe we should do a comparing video." And taking up the idea, Laura later returned to the platform with a follow-up taste test video.
Sampling Harrods' funfetti cake, Laura took a generous bite and praised: "It's like a Victoria sponge, but a perfect Victoria sponge. Unbelievable. It's so moist as well - I love the jam."
Moving onto the red velvet, Ann admitted: "That's my favourite." Laura echoed her enthusiasm, remarking: "It's amazing. They're both very good." The taste test concluded with the chocolate cake - a variety Ann isn't fond of.
"I love it," declared Laura. "It's amazing. I don't know which one to pick [as the favourite]." Reacting to the purchase, one TikTok user expressed: "How did I never know Harrods did a Too Good To Go? Woah."
Another viewer applauded Laura's find: "That's a great bag as cakes are around £8-10 each in shop." Meanwhile, a third shared a contrasting experience: "You're so lucky Laura the last time I got this bag they gave me a lot of stale bread sticks and scones!".
A fourth person enthused: "Delicious! Good Food haul Laura. I used to often go to Harrods, but 25 years ago! I need to go again. it was so handy having the concierge underground parking!"
Whilst a fifth shared: "The funfetti one looks like a thing of beauty, I'd devour that for one. Not a big fan of chocolate cake either, rather have a bar of chocolate."
