M&S issues major update to customers after cyber attack
Marks and Spencer’s have issued a second update since managing the fallout of a cyber attack last week
Marks and Spencer’s have announced that they will be pausing all online orders through its website and app amid the store’s management of a cyber attack.
Since the attack last weekend stores have been unable to process click and collect orders, while contactless payments have been down.
Posting on Instagram, M&S wrote: “As part of our proactive management of a cyber incident, we have made the decision to pause taking orders via our M&S.com websites and apps. Our product range remains available to browse online.”
The historic retailer has further apologised for “this inconvenience” and thanked customers and colleagues for their “understanding and support”.
The store added: “We informed customers on Tuesday that there was no need for them to take any action. This remains the case and if the situation changes we will let them know.
“Our experienced team - supported by leading cyber experts - is working extremely hard to restart online and app shopping.”
Earlier this week the store issued an apology for the disruption caused to shoppers over the weekend in the wake of the incident.
M&S Chief Executive, Stuart Machin, wrote: “Over the last few days M&S has been managing a cyber incident. To protect you and the business, it was necessary to temporarily make some small changes to our store operations, and I am sincerely sorry if you experienced any inconvenience.
“I know how much our customers trust M&S, and that trust is incredibly precious to us.
“We have been working with the best experts to manage this, and I want to thank them and my colleagues for their hard work.”
Shares in the major high street retailer have fallen since the attack, with a further decrease taking place after the announcement Friday afternoon.
