Oasis fans speculate on possible 'pre-tour show' ahead of reunion for one reason
Oasis fans have been left divided over whether the band should play a 'pre-tour show' ahead of their reunion, and while the band has yet to make any official statement, there is reason for hope
Oasis fans are hoping for the possibility of a "pre-tour show" before the band's highly anticipated sold-out global tour.
The Gallagher siblings set the music world abuzz with the announcement they would for a series of concerts running from July to November this year, with almost all shows now sold out.
Noel and Liam Gallagher, who last shared a stage in 2009, have left fans eager for their comeback performance, potentially sooner than expected.
A suggestion on the r/Oasis subreddit has sparked conversation about a "pre-tour show," which could serve as an excellent opportunity for the band, their followers, and the production crew to gear up for the inaugural gig in Cardiff.
The idea of a preliminary performance isn't new; other bands have successfully used such events to fine-tune their tours, prompting hope the speculation could come true.
One fan asked: "Does anyone [reckon] the band will have a pre tour show before Cardiff possibly in May? I only thought this because Blur had a few 'warm up' shows before their actual tour began."
Blur played four warm-up gigs ahead of their major Wembley Stadium performances in 2023.
While some Oasis devotees speculate that a similar event might be added to the band's itinerary, there has been no official word from Oasis or their team – and even if a rehearsal concert were planned, it's doubtful that many would get the chance to witness it.
Another user speculated: "I think there is a fair chance they do a small warm up similar to how The Stones Roses played Warrington Town Hall before they kicked off their reunion tour in 2012.
"It gives not just the band an opportunity to warm up and possibly fine tune the setlist, but also allows the production crew to battle test things like lighting/video queues and changes in the mix prior to taking the show on the road.
"If this happens I imagine it'll be lottery type deal on tickets and it will be announced very early on the day of the show."
Another fan agreed, expressing their hope that they "do something similar to this."
The original poster chimed in: "I guess it does make sense from the production side of things. It would also be a great sneak peak of what's to come and to finally see the two of them on stage together publicly."
Another fan suggested that a balloting system could be implemented for a potential warm-up show, something they believed was 'almost certain', despite no official confirmation from the band.
One commented: "Almost certainly they will. It will be friends and family and maybe a few lucky fans I guess. No chance they play their first gig in 16 years in front of 80,000 people in the mobile phone era."
However, some fans are hoping the band refrain from playing any dates until the Cardiff date on July 4. One stated: "I hope they don't. I like the mystique that's been surrounding the reunion. I want to see them walk on stage for the very 1st time together since 2009. The crowd is going to go completely insane! I think they secretly want that feeling as well."
Meanwhile another fan was adamant, saying: "No they will not, no chance."
Despite the divergent views amongst supporters, several have remarked it would be sheer madness to play at a packed concert without any warm-up shows.
One commenter pointed out: "To go straight into 80k or whatever in Cardiff would be mental. Would explain why Cardiff is before Manchester though if they are effectively the tune up shows."
