A property which is believed to be at the centre of drug dealing and anti-social behaviour has been raided by police.

Officers targeted the property in Scholes, Wigan, during a dawn raid this morning (April 22).

‌

An image shared by Greater Manchester Police shows five officers descending on the property, including three wearing riot gear.

The force says the property is 'well-known to be heavily involved' in class A drug supply.

It added that the raid was just one part of the work that police are carrying out to tackle criminal activity on the estate.

A GMP Wigan spokesperson said: "Whilst most were still sleeping, this morning, officers from the Wigan and Scholes Neighbourhood Police Team were busy executing a drugs warrant at an address in Scholes.

‌

"The address in question had been on our radar for some time and is well-known to be heavily involved in the supply of class A substances and a root cause of anti-social behaviour within the local area.

"The execution of the warrant forms one aspect of what will be a period of intensification tackling those organised crimes groups and drug lines who are intent on praying on our communities most vulnerable and flooding our streets with illicit substances."
