Police uncover over £100k worth of all-terrain vehicles
The high powered vehicles have been seized under the Proceeds of Crime Act
A number of all-terrain vehicles were seized by police during a raid in Bury. The haul was found after Greater Manchester Police's Bury Challenger team carried out two warrants at two units on Bolton Street in Radcliffe earlier today (Friday, April 25).
Nine all-terrain vehicles were found including quad bikes and five motorcycles estimated to be worth more than £100,000. The vehicles have all been seized under the Proceeds of Crime Act.
No additional arrests have been made in connection yet, say GMP. An ongoing investigation alongside this after an earlier warrant in April when Operation AVRO was in Bury uncovered the units and vehicles which may have been used in crime.
A 25-year-old man was originally charged with drugs offences and has been remanded, whilst a 51-year-old woman remains on bail pending further investigation.
Detective Sergeant Craig Murray from the Bury Challenger team said; “This is a prime example of when one thing potentially leads to another and due to investigative work and enquiries we have uncovered further items we believe could have been used or related to crime.
“Following finding the 14 high-powered vehicles, it means we have seized these, taken them off the streets and allows us to progress our enquiries further.
“Our work is ongoing into criminality that can have devastating impacts on communities across Bury, including the use of vehicles such as this in anti-social and dangerous ways, and would urge members of the public to continue to submit any information they have direct to 101 or through Crimestoppers, as that allows us to build a picture to ensure we can keep people safe.”
