Part of the Peak District National Park, and nestled between the Saddleworth Moors, Dovestone is a popular and easy choice for families looking for a day out.

‌

The reservoir provides quiet spots for exploration as well as paths for cycling, horse riding and even sailing.

Families will find plenty of nature and wildlife on the paths as well as the odd sheep, wild mountain hare or bird of prey.

During peak times, the reservoir can get quite busy so make sure to plan your visit ahead of time.

With over 200 animals placed in scenic countryside located in the valley of the River Irk, Lancaster Park & Animal Farm is a child-friendly area where you and your kids can learn more and engage with all kinds of animals.

‌

Spread over 35 acres of land, the farm offers a variety of activities including a petting barn where you and your kids can get personal with an animal of your choice.

Other activities include handling smaller animals and even having the opportunity to bath a tortoise - food is also available to buy with which you can feed the many animals in the area.

Race together at Stonerig Raceway

Stonerig Raceway gives adults and kids the opportunity to experience the adrenaline high of being in a F1 racing car with its Scalextric racing facilities.
