Manchester United have set their sights on Wolves star Matheus Cunha and Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap.

The Manchester Evening News understands that United have earmarked Cunha and Delap as their top targets to bolster a struggling attack. United have only managed to score a meagre 38 goals in 33 Premier League matches this season, resulting in a -8 goal difference. Their current strikers Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee have scored just 15 times between them across all competitions so far this campaign.

Cunha's agents have expressed enthusiasm about United's interest in the 25-year-old, who could see his £90,000-per-week salary doubled. Meanwhile, 22-year-old Delap fits into United's preferred recruitment strategy with key figures at Old Trafford focusing on younger talent.

So how could United's attack shape up - next season - with both Cunha and Delap in the squad? Below are three different ways that United Ruben Amorim could go;

Two No. 10s

Cunha's versatility means he can play right across the attack. Amorim might be tempted to use the Brazil star in a No.10 role alongside Bruno Fernandes to add greater creativity and in a role which could supply Delap with plenty of ammunition.

United would also have creativity in wide areas from Noussair Mazraoui on the right and Patrick Dorgu on the left. Kobbie Mainoo and Manuel Ugarte, meanwhile, would be able to support the attack, and also protect the defence as and when needed.

Man Utd could have two natural No.10s in Matheus Cunha and Bruno Fernandes next season.

Front three

With Amad set to return before the end of the current campaign, United will have another option in attack, who should also be fully fit by the time next season starts. The Ivory Coast star could be part of a new-look front three with Delap through the middle and Cunha wide on the left.

Fernandes would then drop into a deeper position to supply United's attack from midfield. Lisandro Martinez may also be back and, if fit, remains one of United's best centre-backs.

Two strikers

United's pitiful attack this season may improve with the use of two strikers instead of a sole No.9.

Cunha and Delap could, therefore, be used up front, with Fernandes and perhaps Mason Mount supplying them from midfield. Ugarte, meanwhile, would be used as the sole pivot - with Mazraoui and Dorgu supplying width in midfield as attack-minded wing-backs.

Liam Delap and Matheus Cunha could be used as dual strikers for Man Utd.
