Two teenage boys, 17 and 18, 'seriously injured' in lunchtime stabbing on busy Manchester street

Two teenage boys were in hospital with 'serious injuries' tonight (Friday, April 25) after reports of a stabbing in Manchester.
The pair - aged 17 and 18 - suffered stab injuries on Stockport Road in Longsight, with a major police investigation now underway.
Police patrols have been stepped up across the area and detectives have issued an appeal for information from the public. No arrests have been made.
Photographs from the scene show a hatchback car with its passenger side door open within a police cordon. A bicycle lies in a cycle lane next to it. Road closures are in place along Stockport Road, including at the junction of Kirkmanshulme Lane and the junction of Birch Lane.
Buses, meanwhile, have been diverted. Emergency services were called to the scene at around 12.30pm on Friday.
Forensic investigations at the scene have now started.
In a statement, GMP said: "At 12.30pm on Friday, we were called to reports that two males had been stabbed on Stockport Road, Manchester.
"Emergency services attended and two males, aged 17 and 18, were taken to hospital with serious injuries. No arrests have been made at this stage and extensive enquiries are underway to establish the circumstances.

"Road closures are in place along Stockport Road, including at the junction of Kirkmanshulme Lane and the junction of Birch Lane. Delays are expected and we thank the public for their patience whilst the scene is in place.
"Police are now appealing for witnesses, anyone with dashcam footage from the area, or anyone who may have crucial information which may assist with the progression of the investigation, to come forward."
Detective Inspector Geoff Machent, from GMP's north Manchester division, said: "We know that news of an incident of this nature will be concerning, especially owing to the ages of those involved.
"Extensive work is ongoing to identify and locate suspects, and we are working with a range of specialist partners to ensure the victims are safeguarded.
"Additional patrols have been deployed to the area whilst we conduct further enquiries, and I would encourage anyone who has any information or concerns, to speak to our officers."
